How Do I Become A Student?
If you are interested in training as a student of the Bansenshukai Dojo the first step is to contact the Dojo. We will answer any questions you may have, and talk about your goals in martial arts.
During this conversation, we will also set up a time when you can come observe a class. This allows you to have an overall perspective of what you will learn and what you can expect.
While you are there, we will set up a time for you to come back to the Dojo outside of a regular class. During this class, an instructor will work with you one-on-one and show you the basics. This allows you to know what we expect of our students, and lets you learn at your own pace. Most people are uncertain about what is involved in martial arts training, especially in a traditional Japanese Dojo environment, so it is normal to be a bit nervous. You are welcome to invite a friend to participate with you. The goal of this class is to help you feel more comfortable joining into the regular class, and to give you a good understanding of training.
At the end of this class you have the opportunity to continue in our Student Orientation Period. This consists of a month of training, and you can train as much as you want within your skill level of the classes. This allows you to acclimate to training and find what schedule works for you. For the month you pay the regular monthly fee, and there is no obligation if you decide not to continue.
After this Orientation Period you join in as a regular training student of the Dojo. This entire process is designed for you to develop a good understanding of training and all that is involved within traditional martial arts.
